Tell me one thing ...you don't believe in religion, but do you believe in the jesus and God as described exactly in the bye bull?
God is exactly how It has always been no different now than It was then . I do believe that God does influence humans and i do believe the accounts of what jesus said/did is accurate his followers were very very interested in being accurate and exact with his words as any follower would be who truely believed they were words inspired by God (and later from God directly) .
But you have to take into account the culture and the superstitions of humans during any time period and the spin they would put on any event we know how rumors work today and we are in a much much less superstitious environment so the old testament depiction of God and the stories attributed to God has to be taken in context of the culture and human nature . pictures of God is symbolic of exactly what humanity through religions has done with God , defined and attributed human characteristics and assumptions . (short answer : no)

Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will be as one - John Lennon
