I learned how to sleep with my eyes open. My eyes would be at half mast so I could still se and since I could still hear the preacher I wouldn't even realize I was asleep till somebody nudged me.
But I was a true believer and tried with all my might to stay awake but it was a losing battle.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
