Even though I loathe Country music, and the song is overtly Christian, this song never fails to move me to openly weeping.
If you're reading this,
My Momma sitting there,
Looks like I only got a one way ticket over here.
Sure wish I could give you one more kiss
And war was just a game we played when we were kids.
Now I'm laying down my gun,
I'm hanging up boots,
I'm up here with God and we're both watching over you
[Chorus:]
So lay me down in that open field out on the edge of town,
And know my soul is where my momma always prayed that it would go.
If you're reading this, I'm already home.
If you're reading this,
Halfway 'round the world,
I won’t be there to see the birth of our little girl.
I hope she looks like you; I hope she fights like me-
Stands up for the innocent and weak.
I'm laying down my gun, I'm hanging up boots.
Tell dad I don't regret that I followed in his shoes!
[Chorus]
If you're reading this,
There’s going to come a day
When you'll move on and find some one else,
And that's okay.
Just remember this:
I'm in a better place,
Where soldiers live in peace
And angels sing Amazing Grace!
[Chorus]

A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
