Now we're back to speculation, but I had the real pleasure of riding shotgun in the third cockpit seat in an A 320 on a flight from Paris to Vienna. It was because I have an incurable fear of flying and the crew invited me to the cockpit, which probably broke the safety rules in some way.
The pilot explained a lot to me. And one thing especially stood out. He more or less said that the only thing bringing this baby down, was to detonate a bomb onboard, while he demonstrated the controls and safeties of the plane to me, probably making some passengers sick in the process.
