Got back from Malta (where they haven't started yet) to find all the ads on TV, and a fully-decorated Christmas tree already put up in Birmingham Airport.
The ads, to a degree, I kind of understand, these companies want to get their hustle on and make money. NO excuse for trees or decorations anywhere yet though, can we at least wait until December? My Mum's birthday is on December 8th and she is adamant every year that we do not do Christmas before her birthday.
I think British people just do it because we have fuck all else to be happy about once Bonfire Night is gone. It's freezing cold, it's dark, it's wet and it's windy, we just want something to look forward to. It's still bloody stupid though.

"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie
