Brace yourselves... Christmas is coming!
November 28, 2021 at 8:17 pm
(This post was last modified: November 28, 2021 at 8:17 pm by T.J..)
It's time for Christmas music, Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, and theists complaining that they can't say the word Christmas. It's the most wonderful and most commercialized time of the year and I love it! And before you Christians start going, "You can't celebrate Christmas it's our holiday!" I'll just remind you that you stole Christmas from the pagans. Nonetheless I will be celebrating me some Christmas!
Talk about all things December and Christmas here. I was going to wait until December 1st to post this, but Christmas never waited for November to end before, so why start now?
Go go Santa Clause!

I seldom go anywhere any more and because of that I cancelled my subscription to SiriusXM...I am in the car too little for it to be worthwhile and I haven't bothered with finding local stations to preset so there's something to listen to.
Got in the car yesterday morning, turned it on and the first thing out of the radio was 'Run, Run, Rudolph.' UGH
Sure am glad I won't be in any stores having to listen to their endless loop of pop singers mangling classic Christmas songs or singing the awful newer stuff.

Watch for the special renewal offers from them; six months after you cancel you should start getting the 50-percent off for six months offers. We regularly cancel, resubscribe, only to cancel later on!
It's almost as good as the Columbia Music Club from the 80s where you could sign up, get your 6 or so music CDs, cancel (even without paying) and then resubscribe!
And without delay Peter went quickly out of the synagogue (assembly) and went unto the house of Marcellus, where Simon lodged: and much people followed him...And Peter turned unto the people that followed him and said: Ye shall now see a great and marvellous wonder. And Peter seeing a great dog bound with a strong chain, went to him and loosed him, and when he was loosed the dog received a man's voice and said unto Peter: What dost thou bid me to do, thou servant of the unspeakable and living God? Peter said unto him: Go in and say unto Simon in the midst of his company: Peter saith unto thee, Come forth abroad, for thy sake am I come to Rome, thou wicked one and deceiver of simple souls. And immediately the dog ran and entered in, and rushed into the midst of them that were with Simon, and lifted up his forefeet and in a loud voice said: Thou Simon, Peter the servant of Christ who standeth at the door saith unto thee: Come forth abroad, for thy sake am I come to Rome, thou most wicked one and deceiver of simple souls. And when Simon heard it, and beheld the incredible sight, he lost the words wherewith he was deceiving them that stood by, and all of them were amazed. (The Acts of Peter, 9)

I have done that a few times but I am literally in my car less than two hours a week, and that's spread over at least three trips. On the rare occasion that I am in the car longer (tomorrow will be one of those days as I have a dr. appt) I have Pandora so I can listen to that.

It’s not even December yet and my house looks like an elf threw up in it.

On my long commutes, I used to surf the stations to avoid the advertising. I finally just busted the stock radio out of my Corolla and put in an aftermarket radio with a USB port for my iPod. Black Sabbath is better than the idiotic advertising, even if I am stuck in a (stressful) 30 mile traffic jam. My one son who works at a Lowe's store says that the music is controlled by corporate, and it's complete shit around xmas. He ought to send the company information about how employees are stressed by having to listen to xmas music on a loop. As for Sirius, even they have a fairly short loop. When I was on company travel, I'd set the radio to rock, and even in the short driving times, I'd hear repeats. My iPod has thousands of songs, enough that if one listened continuously during my commute, it would be (theoretically), 3 months before a repeat. That was way better than Top 40!

Mine too.
I have hated Xmas since I was 11. Consequently, I do not normally put up decorations of any kind.
Since my mother died, Sis and I have been having Xmas lunch together, alternating houses each year. My turn this year. Even though an atheist as I am, Sis loves all the fuss with Xmas. So, I have two Xmas trees. One is an LED one, which flashes different colours. It's I think 3 feet tall and it cost $80.
Two weeks ago, I found my artificial tree. Thought I'd given it to the Salvos. I had given away the decorations because they were survivors of my marriage. It's about 6 feet tall. So I went down to "Cheap As Chips" and spent $50 on decorations. Looks better than it's ever looked before. I've hidden it in the lounge room. I'll bring it out for lunch Xmas Day, then I'm going to put it somewhere I won't have to look at it

Mine isn't that bad... yet, but it will be!
"She-who-must-be-obeyed" fills the house with what has become known as "Christmas Tat" I have learned that it isn't worth the effort to try to avoid it... just go with the flow and accept it.

Ditto. The upside is that my decorative duties are limited to 1) putting the tree in the stand, and 2) dragging several hundredweight of ornaments down from the attic. If it were up to me, I’d hang one of those pine tree car air fresheners on the wall and be done with it.
