The problem with this kind of idiot bigot pandering is that it assumes that marriage is a religious function. It is not, it is a civil function that various churches tried to hijack back around the time of the reformation because they either were trying to turn their state into a theocracy (cf Calvin and Geneva) or they finally copped on that there's gold in dem thar hills.
