My wife and I went through this also in the beginning, she's Catholic. We finally (took about a year) both agreed that we would not participate in heated belief discussions. Now we just tease each other about our respective beliefs. Also, each respective family knows that beliefs are off the table for discussion at gatherings.
The child issue is something else entirely. I split with two other women prior to my wife because they wouldn't lovingly accept my son. You'll be able to tell. When the biologic is treated differently than the non biologic that's not good for either parent(s) or child(ren).
