Women in such societies are taught to believe that revealing their body to anybody with the exception of close family members and their husbands is shameful and that covering it up to strangers and outsiders is modest and acceptable. It is an atavistic practice which in my opinion should have died out during the 20th century. Same with the burqa.
Whether or not it's degrading to women is dependant upon how woman feel about this item of clothing.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
