Don't give it much thought it's a bunch of bullshit. The OT says there is no hell you would just be scorned for awhile before being let into heaven.
The idea of hell came around as a late addition along with jeebus.
The OT Refers to Sheol Which is the After life version of death. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT JESUS DESCRIBES WITH THE WORD HELL! He Is Telling Us That Afterlife, Dying Is Hell Literally! The when we die in the afterlife, we don't just goto sleep like we do in this life. That our being/soul is consumed/Eaten by Hell Fire. The Result being Sheol/Death/The Grave Which again is consistant with the OT.
