Most Tarantula bites are no worse than a bee sting, venom wise, however, the one inch fangs can put a damn good hurting on you and tetanus is a concern as with any puncture wound.
So can a big dog bite - It's probably the worst part of being bitten. Personally, I am more afraid of being bitten by wasps than by spiders - Not because wasps are necessarily dangerous, but they move fast and I'm afraid I can accidentally scare one off and it will bite me.
