RE: Cinema ad banned; church sues

It's not going to stop anyone actually going to a cinema. There are much more annoying ads than that that get played in cinemas, and cinemas here play ads for 10 minutes, then they play previews for a further 10 minutes, then they play the feature. See they already know to protect their own interests by having the previews immediately precede the feature - because otherwise if people wanted to avoid the ads (by coming in late) they'll miss the previews as well.
