Not quite sure what you mean by "spiritual'. Do you mean ''not physical", 'supernatural' or what? Be fascinated to see your evidence for such a thing.
My perception is that prayer is mostly egocentric,asking for something and rarely about simply 'talking to god'. Were I that nasty cunt YHWH, I'd ignore the whiny little worms too. I think I'd take pleasure in smiting some of the REALLY irritating ones.
On the other hand, were I the God of infinite love and compassion, I would grant any reasonable request, based soley on need.There would be no suffering children or animals for a start. Logically,no finite creature can earn the love of such a being, only accept or reject what is offered, which can only be unconditional.
