It's important for college.
Say what you want about homework, (and I will agree it sucks) but doing it prepares you for a course load in college that requires you to spend time practicing, and spend time doing shit you don't want to do when you could be out with friends.
Getting these habits and discipline down now prepared me for upper level stuff in college, where I had to prepare 40 page lab reports for classes I was interested in and write papers for boring GenEd stuff that I didn't care about. Uncle K is right, doing shit you don't like to do is part of life, and always will be.
I have to mow my lawn and clean my bathroom and do the dishes and laundry, all while working interminable hours in order to fund and schedule my second college career. I don't like doing all of those things, but in the long run, this time of sacrifice will benefit me immensely in getting where I want to be.
Homework is a microcosm of that. Doing shit you're not excited about will always be there. Considering it a brick in the path to your life's goals is one way to make it seem less insignificant and boring and worthless.
Heat, you're 15 or 16 years old. Your brain is not set up yet to think about long term stuff. You are physically not wired yet to consider what things you do now mean for 5, 10 years down the road. And that's a good thing. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it.
Asking a teacher to excuse you from homework will not work. If they excuse you from homework, then every other person that studies their ass off and does the homework and gets an A gets screwed. Not going to happen.
Creating accountability, like I said before, is the way to go. Ask your teacher to email or write down all your homework assignments on a sheet to be signed off by your parents. They then know what homework assignments you have, and assume some responsibility in making sure you get them done. No reward system since that doesn't work for you. Just accountability.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
