This challenge only makes sense if you are now claiming that God is simply an historical event. You also seem to suggest that it is proper to accept single source claims at face value. The evidentiary requirements are indeed a bit different for historical events, but still require the confluence of multiple sources of information to corroborate a claim. Take for instance the story of The Exodus. There is absolutely zero corroborating evidence this ever happened. Zero, yet people still smugly assert it as an historical event because of a single source claim.
Non-repeatable events by their nature are different as you suggest, but this does does not mean there isn't rigor in assessing the validity of the claim. In fact, it's more difficult and typically requires multi-disciplinary effort. Religious claims quickly run into trouble.
