That's called agnostic /soft/weak atheism and is very different. The hard atheist makes the positive claim that "there is no god" or "I believe there is no god". In doing so he attracts the burden of proof.The soft atheist makes no claims and therefore has no such obligation. .
The the word 'gnosis' means 'knowledge' . Theists and hard atheists both seem to conflate the word ' gnosis' with personal certitude, which is not the same thing.
