Sad thought about Jesus.

(December 24, 2015 at 6:26 pm)popsthebuilder Wrote: I have what I wrote when I got home the day of my initial salvation. It is proof for me and goes well with scripture even though I he'd never read any at the time of its writting. The evidence for God and the need of universal moral allignment is apparent in everything of man. Tourment, greed, prejudice, disregard for the well being of those you could help, animal cruelty. Why don't you show the reasons God and the selfless conscience aren't needed? Core scripture I speak of is a way to learn of true direction. Not one of selfish things that lead to negativity. Absolute honest introspection and at times, understanding through retrospect is very important if anything ever going to open eyes. What I speak of is actual significance and purpose that pertains to the very continued existence and advancement of life. Not for us, but the continuation there of.

What is at stake, and our responsibility that comes with our potential, freedom, and dominion. If one isn't for the direction of life and love then one must inherently be for death and hate.

You act as if I preach that one must proclaim to know God and vehemently dispute all other gods. There is a singular creative force that is ultimately responsible for all existence. Through doing your own honest, unbiased inquiry you will see that the texts I speak of hold unchanging truths with utmost significance. Of course if you go into it with any preconceptions then your attempts will be in vain. I'm not selling anything. I know that many atheists are generally good people who desire answers and real direction. I'm not here to condemn any. I'm not here to demand any. I'm just here humbly hoping that I can but strike a spark and light a candle. I cannot provide what you yourself would consider compelling evidence; only you can do that for yourself at God's will.

Probably pissing people off so I'm done for now.

Peace

Humbly and respectfully.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

Pops, what you just gave us is a prescriptive list of reasons for believing in a god or gods, and that's a very common error which people make in deciding that they need a source for (in the form of an ancient holy book or a charismatic preacher) for learning how to be better people and not do evil. Me, I just read the news each day. I see what parents are doing to their children, what predators do to children, what Wall Street does to the hapless working class, what American government does to civilians overseas, what assholes with their guns do to innocent people and children in crowded places, serial rapists and killers with bodies under their houses in drums, etc. ad nauseum. Then I see women being horribly abused in religious communities, shameful hypocrisy with the exposure of gay preachers who spent their lives lives condemning gays, exorcisms in the Western world which result in death, rape going unreported at alarming rates in Christian colleges, and children dying because of parents being told they must rely on faith alone or it isn't their god's will for them to live.

I realize that's a long list, and of course there's much, much more, but please review it one more time, and tell me: do you really think anyone with a normal mind needs to learn not to do that? Do you think everyone who does evil was born and raised atheist, never reading these holy books with instructions for life which were more appropriate for people who raised goats or roamed the desert with their camels 1500-4000 years ago?

Methinks it's in our nature not to do evil, and try to do good because good is mutually rewarding in society. Arguably, there are genetic factors which cause some to be lacking in the empathy for others which being good and not evil requires (it isn't race-related, incarceration rates owe more to a bigoted justice system, plus evil in white-dominated business is usually not something prosecuted as crime). In general, people who lack social empathy find the best hiding places which we can give them in religious institutions, where their evil nature is the least visible because they are expected to be of good conscience just for being there.
Already stated the use of faith in God and the fact that atheists do not equal bad and religious do not equal good. Yes most can determine right from wrong for the most part. But as already stated; that isn't the reason for reading scripture or utter honesty. One can be good in their own eyes and still be greedy and selfish and desire the material wants of this world over real wealth, knowledge, and direction.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.
