Yes it does. I'd suggest you look at the history of the explosion of religiously based hate groups since Obama's first election.

I certainly fear more our Christian right wing and gun worshipers more than any Mexican or Muslim immigrant or refugee. Now if I lived in the Middle East or Mexico where violence is rampant for whatever reason, then I'd be in fear of that too.
But ratio wise we have more to fear from people living here than we do from people that don't live here, regardless of race or religion.
Now, what is the solution? Instead of giving violent people a cause, or trying to separate humans by labels like "mentally ill, politically motivated, religiously motivated" maybe we should look at it as angst, and lack of economic opportunity, combined with those things and easy access to weapons.
