I tried my best to ignore your comments but since you've now directly addressed me I have no other way but to reply, so please know that I didn't really want to say this:

I don't believe a word of that pool. You were not the only one at all, and especially judging someone in South Africa with absolutely no comprehension of their culture. For all you know sharing showers is an every day thing there. But more to the point, she's a foreigner in SA, so actually she shouldn't be expected to understand where there may be moire risks when compared to her culture, and she has every right to expect men not to rape her - even if they inviter her into the shower with them.

There have been times when my Sam - my own fiancée - came on to me and was all over me after a night with the girls; and I turned her down specifically because she was drunk and it would have been taking advantage of her. The morning after the first time, she told me she was surprised because she'd had guys in the past who did take advantage, and that she loved me all the more because it was another way in which I was different. Then we went off and reaffirmed our love, so we could both enjoy it properly.

That's a much happier ending than my story which ends with me alone!! Although not the worst I could tell you - another friend of mine - way long ago, maybe 7 years ago or so, wanted to drive out and see me. From god knows where (well about 3-3.5 hrs drive out of Canberra), and she was drunk. OMG had she not listened to me there's every possibility she would have died on the highway. Or, more likely, she may have had an accident but been fine. Either way it wasn't a risk worth taking.
