And if "God" was instead very much limited in power, and was doing his best to provide the best experience for us he can given rules he didn't create, he could actually be considered good. It's just rather a lot of weird and unecessary assumptions to make.
Probably shouldn't make Her too person-like and I see no reason to assume a god would have to have the total, omniscient big picture. Hell, the only reason this god creates us in the first place is that human existence has just gotten too damned complex for god to handle. Otherwise she needn't bother with creating us at all. As for 'rules', god's goal is survival the same as ours; that is pretty much why She has stepped aside and entrusted the controls to us. The job just got too complex for her. But even if she isn't the smartest consciousness in the organism, she knows a lot about fulfillment in living. With our mastery of analytics and the hypothetical, we sometimes lose sight of the big picture in an existential sense. So maintaining a relationship with Her is a good idea.
