If they live in a solidly blue state, they should probably still go vote, to make sure it stays blue, but it probably won't matter. If the live in a solidly red state, then they might as well stay home and do something useful with their time, because their vote won't be counted.(February 16, 2016 at 11:59 pm)Tiberius Wrote: My wife (who can vote) isn't going to support Clinton if she gets the nomination. She's never actually voted before in her life; this would be the first time, and she's only doing it if Sanders gets the nomination. If I could vote, I'd do the same thing. I'm not a subscriber to the idea that everyone should vote, regardless of whether the candidates match their political views or not. If there isn't a candidate who I think would do a good job as President, I'll simply abstain from voting. Neither Hillary nor Trump are Presidential.
But, Tibs, a vote for Hillary (if she is the Dem nom) is a vote for not-Republican asshat. There are real issues on the table. At least one, if not 3 Supreme Court justices are going to be filled by the next president. Even if Hillary doesn't seem presidential, a vote for her is a vote for a progressive court. As Bill Maher says: "Eat the fuckin' chicken even if you ordered the fish." I know you may not like Hillary (I don't) but we have to combat this idea that if we're not excited about a candidate, all of a sudden we're apathetic to the rest of the process.
Voting is not just for the president. That day, it's also for senate and congressional seats. Our country's fate is at stake here with these obstructionist idiots in Congress. You (or Luckie) should still vote in order to show those people that they are held accountable for not doing their jobs. At least that much, even if you are abstaining from voting for the Presidential candidate.
So really only votes in like 4 or 5 stouts count for shit, when voting for President (this does not apply for congressional elections, in that case there is a whole different set f riged rules).
Go "democratic" voting system!!
