See what I mean?Personally, I have voted in every presidential election since I was old enough to do so. I even spent about 2 hours sorting fliers at a campaign office for Obama in 2004. In that same year, on that other atheist forums, I heatedly promoted the "every vote counts" idea, citing governor Kitzhaber's reelection by a mere 8000 some votes. I said pretty much the same thing you just did, that it's a good thing people do bother to vote! And I still intend to vote, me myself, but I feel like I have become a lot more jaded about politics, the democratic party, how the presidential elections work, and what I can realistically expect out of any politician in the last 8 years.
I hope Bernie Sanders is our next president, but ultimately, my vote in my currently blue state of Oregon is meaningless and I'm pretty much only going to bother because:
A) We are allowed to vote by mail, no long lines for us!
And
B) I want to set a more optimistic tone about civic duty for my daughter, who is finally old enough to be somewhat interested in an election. Let her get jaded when she is old, like me! Lol.
Aroura, you also have races for congress and perhaps senate. Bernie or Hillary will need all the Dems they can get. We elect a president....not a king.
