See the thing is I actually have spent time researching the movement, rather than going to wiki for a quick sanitized fraction of history as an answer. And what do you mean the black community supported this? The black leadership at the time did, but not the whole community, just like the our leadership doesn't support our values. You seem to accept abortion as a mercy killing because in the end, it's better for blacks to kill their unborn children than have them grow up in poverty. Honestly, that's what many abortion supporters agree with when you get them away from the public.
