Lucky you, if the government paid for your masters. Education is free where I live, but I still had work for my education, since I had to eat and bunk down somewhere, and my parents couldn't support me.
I didn't publish any paper either, but the 19th and 20th century are kind of my special fields, since I got my degree handing over a paper based on that period. It was about the German colonies.
My Ph.D. thesis was going to be "US-Japanese Diplomatic Relations, 1941, With An Analysis of Harsh vs. Mild Translations of Japanese Terms." I started studying Pearl Harbor in 1965, so that was going to be a slam dunk. But I got a viral lung infection and had to settle for my Masters.
