You know, I don't remember much about which verses got scheduled when . . . and I honestly think my Dad skipped Ezekiel 23:20.  (ha!)  It's odd, I was made to memorize and quote a verse or two - but I don't ever recall being asked what I think it MEANT.  I might have asked what "whose genitals were like those of donkeys" meant . . . very embarrassing at the dinner table.  

What a pitiful upbringing. Glad you made it out.  I felt enlightened after my escape so I can only imagine how liberated and enlightened you must have felt

Thanks . . . I think.      It was all I knew. We human beings can make meaning and community out of just about anything - - great for survival of the species, not so great for rational and optimal thinking.  My conversion was a LOOOONG process, which made it more bearable, I think.  Slow questioning.  But I have described it to a few folks as feeling like I deliberately set fire to my house, and then stood around saying "now what?".
