No I'm not making the same point. I would never leave the house if all my actions were dictated by bigoted assholes.

look, I'm not asking that you take my side. I am saying that people of mixed races face unique problems people of one race do not. You said you were not 'black enough for the black people nor white enough for the white people, and because you did not speak spanish you were not spanish enough for them.'

Like it or not (phrasing aside) this is the exact problem I was trying to point out. a problem two other people were trying to say was unique to my personal mixed race situation and did not happen out in the 'real world.'

So despite what you think of me, you are a third party person of mixed race who has also confirmed the problem I have identified.

I said that there people who judge everything I do, but why should it have any affect on who I am? I'll carve out my own freaky little niche and be happy with who I am! I'm not saying people don't suck. But falling to pieces over it won't do shit to stop. You straighten your spine, fluff up your curls, and sashay onward.

This is the other thing I was pointing out. Now because you do not belong to one race or another you had to (sounds like on your own) figure out your place in this world. and in doing so you label those who would point to your mixed race back ground as a bad thing "bigots."

What if their was a better way? What if their was a way to retain 100% of your self worth and yet were able to have the confidence and self assurance needed to let the 'bigots' have their say, without having to belittle them or their thoughts? What if you could even be welcomed by the 'bigots' and they not see you for what they see now? What if this was given to you by your parents as a small child, and you had this all your life? What if you did not have to figure things out as you went?

That's what I am talking about, the fact that interracial parents don't generally do this, is the biggest part of the problem.
