You should try and here's a couple of reasons ...
Whilst the remake of "War Of The Worlds" had it's plus points the original is in many ways better (the priest walking towards the Martians is an absolutely classic moment even if it does play into dumb religious thought).
For all the money and SFX in the remake "The Day The Earth Stood Still" the original (even in black & white) is a far superior film.
It's almost true that ALL movie remakes are inferior to the originals IMO.
