Does your god regularly interact with his people?
Does your god prevent evil?
Does your god allow free will?
Also, each of these factors can have an effect on gaining followers and retaining them. For instance, if followers are kept poor, they will be more likely to stay in the religion, but it might be harder to acquire them.
You might have to force certain options. If a user were to create a nebulous, deistic god that doesn't interact with the universe, what would the gameplay be like?
