We never went hungry, always clothed, always had a roof over our heads. Dad always worked, never took any government handouts. Granted, my mother clipped coupons, we went to public school, and we didn't go to the doctor unless someone was really sick, but I don't ever remember feeling like we were poor or that I was doing without. The $2.5 million per child figure is simply mind-boggling to me.
We haven't quite made half of $2.5 million in the last eighteen years, and yet we've raised two kids, and saved for their college, and supported ourselves, and paid taxes, and gone of some lovely vacations, and owe nothing but the mortgage. And we've felt well off too. So yeah, there's something wrong with those numbers.
