It actually uses the word "teach" not 'indoctrinate'...

Public schools teach about Jesus as an historical figure (at least mine did) is that indoctrination or education?

You can't be indoctrinated into xtianity?  Say what?
Singing children's hymns at the age of three isn't indoctrination?  Being surrounded by "Jesus this" and "Jesus that" since the day of your birth isn't indoctrination?  Being told that if you don't love Jesus and obey your parents, you'll burn in hell forever isn't indoctrination?  Being told since kindergarten that reading the Bible and praying and being good in church is more important than anything else in the world isn't indoctrination?  Being told that getting to heaven by being a good xtian is the ONLY thing that is important in life isn't indoctrination?  Being told that you can't play with the kids who aren't xtians because they're evil and they hate Jesus and they're going to burn in hell isn't indoctrination?
If that isn't indoctrination, what is?

Christianity is about freedom, indoctrination is about conformity. If you're speaking of certain denominations then you would be correct, except a religious denomonatin based loosely on the teachings of Christ does not equal Christianity.

A Lutheran Church teaches Lutheran doctrine, and a Catholic church teaches Catholic doctrine. If they both taught the doctrine of Christ then they would obviously have the same doctrine.
