Over time, we come to learn more and understand more, through what we believe to be the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So do those Catholics of the past, some of whom did things which are evil by our standards, go to Heaven or not? Is Heaven going to be filled with generations of Catholics who toed the party line? Are you some day going to be sharing God's grace with witch hunters, for example?
I have no idea. The only people whom we claim to know the fate of are Saints - who we believe are in Heaven. Other than that, we don't know who is in the state of Hell or Heaven, since we cannot know what was in a person's heart.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
