I agree with Min that you should definitely keep in mind the sorts of nicknames your kid might have when considering names, but keep in mind, also, that kids can be endlessly inventive with cruel nicknames even with the most normal of names - and even with nicknames that bear no resemblance to the child's given name at all. So in the end, maybe the lesson is: Name the kid whatever you want.
