Ehmmm, sorry to give you some bad news but a good observer can not possibly be an atheist.  
Where there is energy there is consciousness.
And guess what?
The universe is full of it.  
From here a good observer would automatically understand that there is a mind behind this
consciousness therefore atheism is off the question.
