Yes, i greatly missed a number of the scrapped abilities/trees. Blood mage was also implemented somewhat poorly (it needs a better leech, else why would it be a blood mage? :S), i still made it through hard, but it was a bitch.
And you are absolutely right about the story. I liked the sandbox feel, but unlike in DA: O: there is zero drive to follow a story to the end.
I actually didn't care for Awakening much. Reintroducing Ogren (of all characters... Ogren? Eeew)... and I was really really hoping that the blood magi friend of mine from the mage origin would be a possible character
The story seemed pretty slow in the beginning as well, though from what I hear it becomes much better as you find out about the Architect and whatnot.
I read that book, and indeed i like the idea of that being flemeth... but I somehow doubt it. If it *IS* indeed what Bioware intends to do with her, i might sing out of intellectual bliss. Hopefully the next dragon age will have an encompassing story to go along with it >_> I greatly anticipate the return of Morrigan and her baby, understanding just what happened to the champion and the warden (assuming you didn't kill the warden off yourself), and of course I can't wait to see Flemeth's utter annihilation of the Tevinter Imperium because mages are tasty
My favorite combination would be having my spirit healing mage formerly of the circle and my apostate blood mage team up with a returning Morigan, Varric, Isabella, and I want to see more blood mages that are not portrayed as morons or psychotic >_< Seriously... the 'temptation! Oh noes!' line is fucking weak. The demon cannot provide such things as I desire... the deals I accept are the ones where we both get ahead at little disservice to me, with things they actually can provide (energy). At least the demon possessing Connor in DA: O gave a reasonable deal (teach me blood magic and I let her keep connor? Deal.).
And just what would be magical about someone's ashes? You've burned away all of the useful bits... all that's left is: ash. Those ashes might well be imbued with magic, of course. Honestly, I am one to think that the earl got better on his own accord very quickly after I saved connor and him from a demon. Sacred ashes my left ankle: magical ashes I would believe.
He was somewhat amusing, I agree... though he could get way too butthurt if I joke about something he said. Romance with him is such a pain -_-
Except you can kill it, and it's incredibly powerful and will very likely kick your ass at least twice. Or did she split herself into ANOTHER piece? 0.o Just how powerful *IS* Flemeth? 0.o
I would love for the next installment to center around a Flemeth who is really Andraste ("I am also a very old woman") >_> And just why is she called Asha'Bellinar by the dalish? Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but even if Flemeth is not Andraste: she is still the most impressive being I've seen in any of the games.
I use Paladin to describe a certain type of defensive role (has a shield, reduced incoming damage, self-righteous attitude, won't let me have sex with them
). Aveline fits that roll, though I agree to an extent that she isn't really a paladin
"And Avaline is a woman shaped battering ram!"-Isabella
I know... and this saddens me, because I want her to be an epic adventure across the rest of the world as she sets all of the nations into massive war amidst the chaos of the breaking circles of magi.
I actually like Zevran... but I suppose thats because he's a bit of a kindred spirit to me (as with Isabella, Verric, Sarcastic/joking Hawk). Qunari are freaking stupid and I am restrained from killing all of them only by the fact that there are a lot more of them than there are me. Leilana I really liked when she wasn't being religious.
Such a shame that Duncan died in the first game. He was awesome as a character in the little time I had knowing him
Void Wrote:The family element was good, especially when Leandra died, I was actually somewhat angry and tempted to load a saved game to do things differently and try and save her.

Void Wrote:I thought the characters were better in II, aisde from Morigan and Alistair. Varic, Fenris, Anders II, Isabella and Merill were great, Sebastian, Carver, Aveline and Bethany were sorta shit, but so was Ogrin, Sten and Zevran in the first one.
Hawke being voiced was better.
Combat was much much better.

Quote:The story did feel way too undefined., that was my major gripe. I also disliked the lack of weapon and armor customization. Having the armor set for each of the 3 chapters pretty much meant that half of the armor you obtained was worse than what you had... Then again if you did the Dalish quest in DA: O and got the Legion armor first that was the same case. The lack of an Arcan Warrior / Battle Mage sucked too.

Void Wrote:Leliana's song was average IMO, and Witch Hunt absolutely sucked. Awakenings was awesome.

Void Wrote:Flemmeth is personally too far ahead of the game to be involved here, we'll see her and her significance soon. I'm thinking SHE is Andrasde... As in she was not the makers chosen but a powerful mage (suggested in the book you find in Orzamar in DA: O)

Quote:Anyway, I'm excited about having my Mage warden and Warrior Hawke team up in DA3... Should get Leliana and Morigan back too, if only I had Fenris and Isabella I'd have my main team. Hopefully King Alistair is playable too.

Tearjerker Wrote:I'm not sure about that, Flemeth being Anderaste as we have visited her sanctuary and retrieved a small punch of her ashes, but it's hard to make any assumptions on that.

Void Wrote:Sure, and we already killed Flemeth once too, I hardly think ashes are any obstacle. I just think given the Templar/Mages split it would be great if Andraste was a powerful mage, and we Know flemeth is going to have a big role later on. Plus there was that great dragon right outside Andraste's ashes which looked identical to Flemeth's dragon form.
