The Great Escape, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB and @Brianrrs37 on twitter)
Your prison cell
Escaped your rock
Your Alcatraz
Storm drain you found
Cleaver you
Figured out
Of James Bond legend
Inky's plot
You're the toothpaste
In the tube
And squeze yourself
Through tiny holes
Whatever your beak
Can slip through
Your body follows
Egg sucked into the bottle
Yes you are now legend
Making worlwide news
But some of this reporting
Is missng something
The romance of freedom
I think is lost
To the reality
Of the drain's possible contents
Pollution and objects
Within it's path
Could get it sick
Or get it stuck
Is this really
Another Nemo
Or simply humans
Projecting again
Inky,
For your own sake
I hope you made it
All the way
But I'm picturing
In this process
An episode of the Simpsons
And Lisa's trip
Through a nature walk
Where she encounters
An articulated chipmunk
She procedes to talk
She smiles and chats
Thinking happy thoughts
Nature is wonderful
Then she moves on
But does not see
The owl swoop down
Behind her back
The chipmunk gone
Oh we laugh
It is a cartoon
But this escape by Inky
From Alcatraz
Was very real
And why we'd like to think
Inky made it
All the way
What about
All the dangers
That may have dwelled
In that drain?
(end)
