Except I don't like the precondition of having it on the same day as the "national day of prayer". It needs to be completely not motivated by religion on what day it's on. But motivated by a day where a great scientific breakthrough was made or a momentous milestone was made culturally through reason. I prefer the latter, but I cannot think of such a day than something stupid like Richard Dawkins day or something since he's the only one that pushed atheist culture.
Or a good date for the national day of reason can be is when Darwin got the origin of species published or something......since that did indirectly influence much culture in the years to follow......
Ooo...I got it! The day should be on John Scopes birthday! Anyone familiar with Scopes monkey trials? That was very cultural. The guy had balls to stand up to all those religious nuts and judges and all that to defend the teaching of evolution in public school.
Actually, it was the Civil Liberties Union with the balls to do so. Scopes agreed to deliberately violate the law and to be used as a test case. Scopes never even went to jail. The whole thing was staged from start to finish.
