Even when training dogs, it's a total no-no because what you will get is a neurotic aggressive dog who still hasn't learned the lesson.
Well, in my opinion, dogs do show varied behavior, some respond positively to physical punishment and some respond negatively, so it seems kind of unfair to generalize like that, I give my boy Rambo a good slap in the back when he goes and drinks drainage water it has taught him that behavior will cause him pain so he refrains, he didn't become more aggressive, he actually respects me more and doesn't drink drainage water anymore. Again, it depends on the dog you deal with.
Read again what I wrote. I was talking about punishment that the dog has no way of linking to a specific action of his because it is delayed or otherwise confusing.
