Sadly, that's not true. There are cases where the abuse is so overwhelming that victims not only capitulate to the position of their abuser but advocate/promote both the position of the abuser and the method of abuse. That's part of the reason why our responses to Drich's position in this thread are so important. Vulnerable people need allies. It's possible that in this context, that includes Drich.
I don't mean that it doesn't happen so much as I mean that it's not true that it can't be overcome. I think people who never overcome it is more because they don't want to overcome it and they've bought into the belief. If they wanted to see things differently and they made an effort to do so, they'd be capable of having their own thoughts. It doesn't necessarily mean they won't come to the same conclusion. Maybe I'm wrong I don't know.
