Nope, women prefer to not work. Men like to be the provider. So it's a win-win.  
Doesn't mean wives only stay at home and watch TV. They go out with other girls if they are bored, everyone is just a call away. Gets to go on shopping, she can hit the gym if she wants to (they rarely do because we don't have your crazy expectations for women,but we have crazy expectations for men, not to complain, I like People having crazy expectations for me ), go to museum, there's lots and lots of activities around. Just this other day mom made me go with her to this planetarium and see this kind of a documentary of the space in a sort of 6D cinema type.
