Probably because you are smart enough to realize that unlike the religion of atheism, Christianity has a moral code one of the tenants being "thou shall not kill".

Atheism is not a religion, but Satanism is.

So a "Christian" killing was an inconsistent Christian at best and probably not a believer at all testified to by their rejection of Christianity's moral code.
