The punishment for sin is death and it's inherent in the human race. If you can't accept that then you can't accept the christian God. I'd rather die by the sword than by countless many ways that people die. I must live my life in an imperfect world and then die, and God could alleviate that, but he doesn't because I suffer the consequences of sin. When this life is over we'll have much better life thanks to Jesus. A christian must accept that God has the right to punish us and that he is just in doing so. Thankfully, no one is forced to accept that, but it is an essential doctrine of christianity.
So . . . you're a young earth creationist who thinks that the Garden of Eden, and Adam and Eve and a talking snake are literal? Because if you accept the scientific fact that the human race could not possibly have populated from a single couple only 6000 years ago (and then done it again after Noah) then you don't have the Tree of Knowledge, and you don't have original sin as described in the Bible. (Or the fun fact that the sons of the only two human beings on the planet went to the next village over to find wives.)
Of course, you could always ascribe original sin to something else. I have heard some weird theories. And sure, humans are naturally flawed creatures.
But then, I don't believe in gods, original sin, or an afterlife. I'm just curious whether you're a literal creationist or not.
