I imagine all the Christians in this thread got involved because the OP made an assertion about Christianity and about Christians. An assertion that we felt we should clarify, and explain what our views actually are. That is what explains our presence in this thread.
I love the teachings you listed above, about turning the other cheek, etc. Unfortunately I fall short many times, especially as a cranky, sick pregnant woman being outnumbered on an atheist forum. And I'm sorry for that.
I'm sorry CL. I just snapped for a minute there, reading all the posturing in this thread. You've never pushed anything on anyone
We've all got our crosses to bear and trying to do our best but being human we all fail sometimes. You're trying to turn the other cheek and I hate anger and try to reign that in, but being human we fail sometimes. So sorry for my outburst. Peace
You're ok, I've had plenty myself.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
