For me, any maligning of a whole cultural group because of the real or perceiced attributes of a single member or sub-set of that group is racism. And what Wooters did was malign the whole of the Irish cultural group because of an attribute he imagines I have.

I have yet to hear NPR listeners demand Garrison Keiller stop telling jokes about Norwegians in Lake Woebegon. They must all be racists. :-)

I wouldn't call what you said "you must be Irish" as racist, but it was certainly discrimination based on nationality, which may not sound as punchy but which is as equally repugnant.

Rather than you calling Jörmungandr stupid you said "you must be Irish" an old steryotype of the Irish as being stupid .... 

Again your arrogance to one side, because you can name other bigots that is no defense
