Maybe or maybe not it's right to thank you for that. I was wondering what your thoughts were about it. Do you think of Pratchett as fairytales, books full of figurative/talking in similarity/comparisons - to learn truths, gain wisdom and knowledge to put into use in life or do you think it's all just fantasy ?
Do you think the use of Pratchett may be compared to what Christians do with The Bible ?
I don't mean this arrogantly.
Pratchett's disworld seires was the use of a fantastical world as a mirror to show up the follies and foibles of human existence.
And, no his books are nothing like the bible. The Discworld series is an obvious fiction and is meant to be taken as such, whereas the bible tries to pass off a fantasy as reality. And furthermore the morality described in Pratchett's books is much better than that in the bible. For example, genocidal psychopaths don't get to be the good guys in Pratchett novels.
Oh and what's with the inane questions? If it's an attempt at conversion it is spectacularly bad.
Constable Dorfl,
Do you remember seeing a post about The Clementine Homilies, Chapter XX - Some Parts of the Old Testament Written to Try Us ?
Maybe false things about God inserted maliciously into The Bible to mislead.
Do you think The Bible and Discworld series are both fiction ?
I think a comparison may be done of The Bible and Discworld series.
