It is a small beginning but small things lead to great things.
I understand completely. Just because god is all powerful and all knowing and all present doesn't mean he should be held responsible for what happens to the people he is supposed to love watch over.
And we should especially not blame god for the things we make him do.
Don't feel relieved yet. We don't blame god himself, but the absence of god. The Church's convoluted explanations for why evil exists just doesn't vibe with reality.
As I just said in a previous post the father will have no choice in how his grown up sons-daughters behave.
That is how evolution works.
Plants and animals follow the instinct law but as the consciousness in animals grows up into humans then
the instinct slowly give way to free will.
The main problem with most atheists is that they think that the physical death represent the end of everything therefore it doesn't make sense anything else.
In answering your question I say...... there is not such a thing as the absence of God.
It is all about having his children the free will to do what they wish as you would let yours to do the same once they grow up.
Are you that stupid to think that you can prevent your adult son-daughters to do or not to do whatever they like?
