Playing what if, since, as many said, there's no legal option to secede. But do you think it would become a christian fundamentalist theocracy if independant?

Maybe, but then again maybe not. Texas is conservative and Christian on the surface, but it's also a big place with a growing level of diversity that doesn't really jibe with the state's public image

This. I work for a Texas-based company, as a result I know a lot of Texans. They're not nearly as much a monolithic group as reputation suggests. There certainly is a powerful culture of the overly churched however, and so I would not rule out the possibility.
