Could be a good thing to post the text here and get people's feedback on it before submitting the petition. How you phrase it would be critical.
First thing I'd do is think of the reasons why there should be a vote of no confidence in the current government. Namely that the current government has shown that they will put the future of the country in jeopardy in order to promote their own political careers. Due to the EU referendum the social, political and economic outlook of the country has changed dramatically as a result and that if people had known this in advance their vote would have been different etc.
I'm handing the keyboard over to my sister who has a few things to say:
emjays sister Wrote:I woke up this morning with the thought in my head that I need to start a petition. Mainly based around reading about the possibility of a general election as early as the autumn, and the Lib Dems promising to override the referendum and remain in the EU if elected (which would guarantee them my vote). This one thing gives me hope and I'm concerned about the pressure from the EU and the Brexiters to hurry up and leave already! I got as far as wording the petition on https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/check but lost my nerve as I wanted to remain anonymous! The point of my petition is to balance the pressure to rush this with the demand for consideration. If anyone wants to take this wording and amend it/start it, please please do!
Petition: "To commit to not invoking Article 50 to leave EU until after a general election" (there is a 80 character limit so I deleted the word 'the'!)
Background: This petition is to call on the UK government to not give in to pressure and rush to invoke Article 50 to leave the EU, and to wait until such time as a general election has been called before any such action is considered. This is to give the British public the opportunity to consider which party best represents their genuine interests in remaining in or leaving the EU before a decision of such consequence is put into action.
