"Jerusalem" did not exist between 135 and 639 when it was called Aelia Capitolina. Captured by the Arabs it was renamed Iliya and a couple of centuries later to al-Quds. Presumably the Crusader barbarians tried to rename it Jerusalem but they got pitched out on their holy asses in short order and back to al-Quds it went. When the UN fucked the Arabs over in 1947 I guess the name came back into style.... but that is a pretty long hiatus!
I am always amused during easter when they show films of idiot xtian "pilgrims" crawling along the "Via Dolorosa" as if they are following in fucking jesus' footsteps. I can always imagine the Israeli archaeologists who are working 30 feet below them in the first century levels laughing their asses off at such fools.
