They've done little to discourage the party's fringes from questioning Obama's legitimacy to serve through the birther movement, fitness to govern through the death panel canard -- and even the territorial integrity of the US under a Democratic president through Texas Gov. Rick Perry's flirtation with secession.

Anger may stoke the base at town halls -- and goose Glenn Beck -- but it just looks ugly on the national stage.

Well I'm showing that Democrats weren't respectful to George Bush's face, which is what Whateverist said. In fact they were the ones who started heckling at a state of the union address. That the disrespect is different, I make no challenge to that. It's like, of course people didn't claim George Bush was born in Kenya, duh. They just had their own stupid conspiracy theories about him. Every president gets disrespected, Obama is, George Bush was before that, Clinton before that, George I before that etc etc etc, all the way back to John Adams. So people thinking that Obama is somehow the first to get heckled, or have conspiracies about him, they either have short memories or are looking at things from only one side. In fact Conservatives said the exact same thing regularly that this thread is, that George Bush was the first to be so disrespected. This whole topic is unknowingly ripped off from right wing talking points from the early 2000's. I would have told those people the exact same thing.
