I'm an atheist. I don't believe in god because of lack of evidence and I don't think it's a dangerous lifestyle however I do think the theistic/religious form of god is dangerous and detrimental.
Many many of my friends are theists (although many aren't strictly religious). When I was a muslim I was good friends with most, when I told em' I was an atheist or they heard me talking about me being an atheist nothing really happened. I'm still as good friends with them as ever, I found it odd that the cockier guys that were hypocritical (as in they do haram while telling people to not haram) muslims were really chill about it telling me they respect my belief.
Although my closest and "goodest?" (I have a pet peeve against the term best friend(s)) friends are a mix of atheists, muslims, a deist and a christian.
